The Bulgarian Seaside is one of the most popular summer destinations in Eastern Europe. This is due to the long beaches, varied landscape, natural sights, nature reserves, architectural, cultural and historical objects, and last but not least – the Bulgarian hospitability. The total length of the coastline is around 200 km. Cape Emine divides the seaside into Northern and Southern. Several of the most famous holiday resorts are located in the northern Varna and Dobrich Districts – Golden Sands, Saints Constantine and Helena, Obzor, Balchik, Kranevo, Albena and Rusalka. Those places are preferred mostly by families with children due to the big holiday complexes, the traditions in all-inclusive services, the calm beaches and the greenery. Wild-nature lovers usually visit the villages and camping sites close to the Bulgarian-Romanian border where the coast is rocky, the water deeper and relatively cooler. The accommodation includes small family hotels and guest houses. In the last years the region between the towns of Balchik and Kavarna has become popular as a golf tourism destination offering perfect conditions for this sport. The courses are constructed within huge, 5-star holiday resorts and hotels. Peaceful places and deserted beaches are not very common in the south. All small villages to big cities are busy and sometimes overpopulated during the high season (15 July – 15 August). Many of the young tourists prefer the Southern Seaside with its rich night life, water attractions and all kinds of accommodations – from cheap rooms, modest guest houses to expensive hotels. Many prefer visiting several locations due to the proximity of the towns and resorts, as well as the beautiful natural wealth of Bulgaria – Lake Pomorie, Devil’s River, Ropotamo Nature Reserve, the outflow of rivers Veleka and Rezovska. Among the most visited places here are – Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Nessebar, Sozopol, Pomorie, Primorsko, Kiten and Lozenets. There is a variety of holiday houses, villas, hotels and self-contained apartments. Generally, 3-star hotels and guest houses dominate but tourists more and more prefer independent apartments in apart-hotels and resorts. It is easy to reach every spot at the Seaside by car. Two of the main Black Sea cities, Varna and Bourgas, have airports for international flights.
