Govedartsi is a resort village in Southwestern Bulgaria, Samokov Municipality. The village is located 15 km away from Borovets and Samokov, while Sofia is around 80 km away. Govedartsi is located on the border of National Park Rila in the valley of river Cherni Iskar. The altitude is slightly above 1300 m and the snow remains 160 days on the average. The region used to be economically well developed in the past and Govedartsi brought the name Balgare. Nowadays, Govedartsi is a starting point for many mountain paths to huts in Rila Mountain and several picturesque sites. From Govedartsi you can reach the Seven Rila Lakes, Urdini Lakes, Elenini Lakes, Malyovishki Lakes, Strashnoto Lake, Lopushki Lakes. The latter makes Govedartsi visited during the spring and summer, whereas the nearness of Borovets brings tourists to Govedartsi in the winter months. The lodging is possible mainly in guest-houses and small family hotels. Few of them are a modern type of accommodation and offer more than the category requires. The hotels in Govedartsi are scattered in the village's periphery. You will not find here big holiday complexes or apart-hotels. However, you can enjoy the cosy rooms of the local houses where kitchens, barbeque, gardens and dining rooms are at your disposal.
